Review for Ben Nye Neutral Set Colorless Powder
And this is blogging in bed on a rainy Wednesday night. And since I wore this powder for the whole day, I would want to give it a review.
First of all, forgive me if I cannot give the exact price, exact sizes and variants because I bought this for "takal". A workmate of mine bought a full size at Shopee and I told her thar I am interested to have portions of her full-size Ben Nye Powder. This powder was in so much hype. They say it's a good finishing powder but it's a bit pricey. I think full size ranges from 800 to more than a thousand. So takal na lang. Hehe... I only paid 150.00 for the takal. It's only available online. I just wanted to give it a try to know why it is in hype. Underrated or overrated?
Here is how the full size looks like. They also have Ben Nye Banana Powder which has color, under the yellow tone shade.
To remind all of you,I have a combination to oily skin. My T-zones are very oily but other parts are not. So I was expecting that this powder will make my face mattified because of its price. Hehe.
I used a powder brush in applying the product. With the picture below, I used Mary Kay Timewise Mattewear Foundation. Left side in the pic is with powder (right part of my face) and the other side doesn't have powder.
Sorry for the unblended foundation on the right side (left part of my face) but as you can see, the left side (right part of my face) is smooth and flawless. It did not interrupt my liquid foundation. At first application, you may think there's a little bit of white cast but it's tolerable. The finish is smooth, and as I have said it did not interrupt my base but it did not add glow to my face unlike what a yellow tone powder does.
To be honest, I felt like I was applying a baby powder hehe but let's see how it will help in oil control.
But wait, additional pic without flash. Hehe
Below is the blotting paper I used after 4 hours.
I blotted after 4 hours not because I am so oily but because retouching after lunch is a usual thing for working girls like me. To clarify, my face did not look so much oily. Above shows the oil I had after 4 hours but I still looked pretty decent before blotting.
I retouched again using Ben Nye Neutral Colorless powder and there was no caking.
6 hours after retouching, I can see the shine on my T-zones and on my cheeks. That time I really looked oily. And when I touched my face, I am sticky. Just a reminder, I did not use a primer. But, with or without primer, it should have helped me in controlling oil for a longer time though it did not promise a superb oil control, with the price, I was expecting something. So let's see my final thoughts.
PROS:
-it makes my skin looks flawless and natural-looking. It did not interrupt my liquid foundation.
-It took a while before I looked extremely oily but if you are super duper oily, this one may not be for you.
CONS:
-It did not add glow to my face maybe because it's just a colorless powder. But I was looking for the "oomph" factor.
-Pricey!!!
-I felt like I was using an ordinary loose powder.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
It's a thumbs down for me. Considering the price, I expected a lot. Nothing Ben Nye Neutral Set Colorless Powder can give that other more affordable powders cannot. I can get the same effect with ordinary loose powders or foundations. Yes it gave me a smooth and flawless finish, a decent oil control but I can have the same experience with normal powders. It's good but it's ordinary.
Repurchase? NO. Though some said that BEN NYE BANANA POWDER is better,I'll just wait for a cheaper version or a gift maybe haha.
Recommend? I recommend this to those who wants to have a smooth and flawless finish, whose skin is not that oily and willing to splurge a bit.
